Château Troplong Mondot is a producer located on the hills of Saint-Émilion, on the right bank of the Gironde in Bordeaux. Troplong Mondot is classified as Premier Grand Cru Classé B in the Saint-Émilion classification. This wine is the second label of Chateau Troplong Mondot.
Winemaking Team Notes: "Troplong Mondot dominates the landscape. Located at the highest point of the appellation, its ‘terroir’ benefits from an exceptional 360° exposure and incomparable soil complexity. Soils are well draining limestone and clay, interspersed with chalk and flint. Troplong Mondot has a cooler climate, at a higher elevation, than most of Saint-Émillon. In this atypical panorama, the vineyard is part of a natural heritage whose biodiversity is a long-standing reality.
As the outcome of this perfect balance, the wines reflect the estate’s riches and reveal an identity like no other. The power of the terroir tempered by the glistening fruit. The aromatic richness enhanced with elegant precision. The perfect balance of elements that respond to one another. The revelation of a unique universe that opens itself up over time. A feeling of fullness."
Critic Tasting Notes: "The 2019 Mondot derives from Merlot growing on newly acquired vineyards on Saint-Émilion's limestone plateau that can't be included in the grand vin until the region's new classification is finalized. Offering up aromas of wild berries, rose petals and coniferous forest floor, it's medium to full-bodied, lively and succulent, with a supple, charming profile and a penetrating finish." - 91 pts, Wine Advocate
