Availability: In stock

60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc, 10% Merlot, 10% Sangiovese.

Winemaking Team Notes: "A wine from vineyards of 10 hectares located at 100 meters above sea level with an average age of 20 years that enjoy a gentle Mediterranean climate. Calcareous, clay, and sand soil.

Vinification: Grapes are manually harvested and ferment in open-topped, cone-shaped oak vats with a long maceration. Malolactic fermentation develops spontaneously in French oak barriques and wines are barrel matured from 12 to 18 months before bottle aging for a minimum of six months.

Vintage Notes: Rains in late August provided relief for the vines and restored a gradual, balanced ripening process. Mild weather, with intense sunlight and good day-night temperature differentials accompanied the start of harvest of Merlot and Sangiovese. Ripening of all the grape varieties was quite rapid and uniform across the vineyards, with picking of the remainder of the fruit concentrated in the second third of the month and concluding on 22 September.

Tasting Notes: With notes of juicy blackcurrant, cedar wood and wild forest strawberries, mixed with delicate nuanced of rosemary and pepper. Beautifully balanced and harmonic, with a silky soft and complex structure."

Critic Tasting Notes: "The 2020 Grattamacco is an outstanding wine, dark, vibrant and nuanced to the core. Black fruits, lavender, spices, leather, menthol and dried herbs give the 2020 plenty of character and complexity. The 2020 is deep but also wonderfully translucent and one of the finest Grattamaccos I can remember tasting. It has incredible depth and resonance, not to mention a lot of personality." - Vinous
