Bella Ridge Estate is a family owned and operated vineyard and boutique winery.
Producing innovative and distinctive wines, the 25 acre property owned by Alon and Jodi Arbel is located on the foothills of the Darling Ranges in Western Australia’s oldest wine region - the Swan Valley.
After purchasing the property in July 2003, the original plan was to sell the majority of vintage 04’s fruit and produce just a small amount of wine for a couple of years while we got on our feet. A change of circumstances (as we like to call it!) just a few months after taking over the property and a couple of months out from the 2004 vintage – (and only two months after having our first child - there are now two!) - Plan B quickly emerged. The plunge was taken to set up a small commercial winery. In the space of three short and exceptionally busy months a winery was in fact set up and as they say, the rest is now history!
The entrance of Bella Ridge Estate onto the wine making stage has been beyond expectation. A chance opportunity to present the Shiraz - unlabelled of course as we had not yet completed the label design! - to James Halliday on a visit to the region in 2006 saw the launch of Bella Ridge Estate. Needless to say we feel very fortunate to be able to boast that the first-ever released Bella Ridge Estate wine was reviewed nationally by James Halliday in The Weekend Australian!
Things have continued to go from strength to strength, culminating in Ray Jordan proclaiming Bella Ridge Estate 'Most Promising' producer in Western Australia in 2008 (Wine Guide, 2008) - not bad for a small family owned vineyard and boutique winery that was only established in 2004 on an intense passion for wine and a large overdraft!
Producing two wine ranges – Bella Ridge Estate and the premium Belle Mere and Beau Pere reserve wines - Bella Ridge is proud to be pushing the boundaries, producing handcrafted blends and styles that are flavoursome, innovative and distinctive.
