Availability: In stock

90% Sangiovese Grosso (Prugnolo Gentile), 10% Canaiolo Nero, Mammolo, Merlot.

The Dei family produced their first wines from their estate in the heart of the historic appellation of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano in 1985. Now run by Caterina Dei, the estate has become one of the leaders in the region, producing lush, perfumed, fruit-driven wines that are exquisite expressions of the local Prugnolo clone of Sangiovese, blended with small amounts of Canaiolo, Mammolo, and Merlot.

The vineyards, on the slopes below the picturesque town of Montepulciano, extend over 52 hectares and are divided mainly between the crus of Martiena and Bossona. The Vino Nobile Riserva Bossona, which comes entirely from the best positions in that Cru, is considered one of the best expressions of the Montepulciano terroir. All it takes is a taste of these wines to know that they are the epitome of quality for the region.

From vines planted at a higher elevation giving a brisk freshness to this bold red wine. Fermented with native yeasts and then aged in large oak casks for a year and a half before bottling. The Dei family produced their first wines from their estate in the heart of the historic appellation of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano in 1985. Since 1991 it has been run by Caterina Dei.Tasting Notes: Brilliant ruby color with hints of garnet as it ages. Intense bouquet, pungent and mature, with aroma of ripe cherry, plum and violets. Flavorful, balanced and persistent, it has soft, velvety tannins.

Vinification: Soft pressed with spontaneous fermentation with use of local yeasts in stainless steel at controlled temperature of 26-28° C. Macerated on the skins for 15-25 days with pump-overs. Aged by regulation for 24 months, of which 12–18 months are in wood, then the rest of the time in bottle.
